Blog entry 2- Period 2
HOWDY!
So we had our first evaluation last week and we became teachers! How did you do? I was really nervous, I'm not good at this type of things, but it was fun.
The class was divided into 4 groups and 2 groups were in charge of grammar and 2 groups of vocabulary. Our group, consisting of Magaly, Alisson, Eunice, Jaime, Carla, Elizabeth, Gustavo, Adriana and myself, was the first to pass and was in charge of the vocabulary. We decided to teach medical vocabulary that some of the students probably didn't know.
As a warm-up activity we showed the students some images and they told us what they could recognize in them. This way we could introduce the topic. We explained the vocabulary with examples and pictures and then did some activities such as the crazy hat game and a word search for the students to practice the new vocabulary. Finally, we decided to do a matching as a controlled activity. The truth is that we still had time left so we did another activity in booklet that we had prepared just in case.
The second group (Jessica's) was in charge of grammar. This group talked about the third conditional and I really didn't know it existed. I had never heard of it and if I did, maybe I forgot about it haha. But it was very interesting and I liked the way they taught it; they gave a lot of examples and that helped in understanding this topic.
The third group (Noe's) was in charge of vocabulary. They taught their class on cooking vocabulary, there were many terms that came from French. I still remember two of them, the julienne cut and mise en place. I don't know anything about cooking so it was very cool. One of the activities they developed was a matching of the word with its correct definition and its corresponding image. Another activity was to create a recipe using the words they assigned us.
The fourth and last group (Dani's) was in charge of grammar. I loved the activities they did; they are very dynamic, I like it. They talked about the second conditional, a topic similar to the second group. The first activity was in groups: each group had an envelope with words and we had to put them in order to unscrabble sentences.
I learned something new in each and every class taught by my classmates and it was fun! I hope we can continue to improve and do our best to achieve our goals.
See you in the next blog post. Bye!
