Blog entry 6- period 2

Hey! What's up?

Another week in which we continue with the classes, yay! This time it was the turn of groups 3 and 4 to develop the class. I loved how both groups performed in the class, I don't think they were nervous or if they were it didn't show. They did super well, wow!

The first group (Noe's group) was in charge of teaching listening skills. I loved the material they used. For starters they gave out nametags which was an excellent idea, they used videos that specifically talked about their topic and gave lots of examples and got the students involved.

The teachers introduced themselves and showed the topic they were going to talk about: Greetings, spelling & verb to be in the affirmative. As a warm-up activity, they played an audio and handed out worksheets to all the students.  The audio described objects and the students had to match the number of the audio with the correct word I think. For example, the first audio described a big blue whale and on the sheet was the drawing of the whale, then they put together the text that said audio 1 with the corresponding image.

Then Andrés started explaining about formal and informal greetings. Gisselle did a quick review about last class and taught the verb to be in affirmative form and to be questions. Alexia also did an activity talking about spelling where they were given a word and had to spell it orally.

Later, teachers handed the students another worksheet with questions and played a video. After they answered the questions, Andrew chose a few students and told them to give the answers they had written to check them. The teachers also did another activity where they played another audio and the students had to draw what they heard.

As a wrap-up activity, which was like a Chayane's hot potato game, the teachers asked the students quick questions, examples using the verb to be and asked them to spell their names or a random word.

After the break, it was group 4's turn to teach the class. Maru, Katherine, Clara and Damaris started by
giving them a ball made of layers of paper, each sheet containing a question such as how old are you, what do you do for a living and what is your name.

They also did a quick review of the greetings and then went on to hand out sheets with questions which they had to answer true or false. The students compared their answers in pairs and then roleplayed. The teachers did a roleplay example so the students could improvise a conversation. I like how this group had the students practice a lot with different activities so they could absorve the topic as much as possible.

As a wrap-up activity they played the hot potato game and when the music stopped, the person who had the ball had to answer the question given by the teacher.

And that's how another class ended and there are a few more to go so I'll see you later!
