Hey! What's up?  Another week in which we continue with the classes, yay! This time it was the turn of groups 3 and 4 to develop the class. I loved how both groups performed in the class, I don't think they were nervous or if they were it didn't show. They did super well, wow! The first group (Noe's group) was in charge of teaching listening skills. I loved the material they used. For starters they gave out nametags which was an excellent idea, they used videos that specifically talked about their topic and gave lots of examples and got the students involved.  The teachers introduced themselves and showed the topic they were going to talk about: Greetings, spelling & verb to be in the affirmative. As a warm-up activity, they played an audio and handed out worksheets to all the students.   The audio described objects and the students had to match the number of the audio with the correct word I think. For example, the first audio described a big blue whale and o n ...

Howdy, folks! How's it going? I hope you have had a good time these days. This week it was finally our time to teach English classes. Yay! At first I was worried that we wouldn't have many students but little by little the list filled up and we had several students, good thing! It was established that two groups would teach the classes every Thursday.  My group was the first to give the classes, we were the ones who broke the ice.  It was nerve-wracking to be honest, but we were able to do it without much trouble.  Alisson, Magaly, Eunice and I worked hard so that the students could fully understand the topic. The truth is that we thought the students would have a basic level of English but they surprised us. We taught them the alphabet, greetings and how to give personal information. Well, the latter we did not see in depth.  In the presentation we showed each of the letters and a simple way to pronounce them as well as an image with a picture of an object...

HI THERE! 😃 A new week, a new blog post.  I could not be in this class because I had some problems with my car but I will write about what some of my classmates have told me.  Well, we received feedback on our performance as teachers.  It was nice that we were able to give our first class to our classmates whom we already know. ( For me it was more about nerves than happiness, but I did have fun.)  In addition to the feedback, we formed groups of 4 with which we will be working to teach the classes to the students that will come.   My group is not so lucky because we are going to be the first group to teach the class. Well, I don't know whether to take it as a good or bad thing. We will have to teach a vocabulary class in 45 minutes. We have records that prove that we struggle a tiny bit with the time but we already learned so we can improve that aspect.  Our classmates will be watching how we develop the class to know about the topics taught and not ...

HIYA! ✊ Do you remember what we've been talking about these days? Exactly! Lesson planning. We have learned about the PPP lesson plan, but this time we learned about the PDP lesson plan. This PDP lesson plan, in comparison to the PPP, is for listening and reading comprehension classes. Instead of having the presentation, practice and production as in the case of the PPP, in the PDP we have the pre, during and post. We always start with the warm up activity, something simple that helps either to introduce a topic or to review something already seen in class.  Then we have the pre, the time to activate or set the schemata.  Here, as teachers, we have to get all students on the same page. Everyone must be focused or must have the same thing in mind which in this case would be the topic being taught.  In this step the new vocabulary is taught (between 5 to 10 words) and these words have to coordinate with the audio or with the reading paragraph that is shown.  In t...

HOWDY! So we had our first evaluation last week and we became teachers! How did you do? I was really nervous, I'm not good at this type of things, but it was fun. The class was divided into 4 groups and 2 groups were in charge of grammar and 2 groups of vocabulary.  Our group, consisting of Magaly, Alisson, Eunice, Jaime, Carla, Elizabeth, Gustavo, Adriana and myself, was the first to pass and was in charge of the vocabulary. We decided to teach medical vocabulary that some of the students probably didn't know.  As a warm-up activity we showed the students some images and they told us what they could recognize in them. This way we could introduce the topic. We explained the vocabulary with examples and pictures and then did some activities such as the crazy hat game and a word search for the students to practice the new vocabulary.  Finally, we decided to do a matching as a controlled activity.  The truth is that we still had time left so we did another ac...
